Continuing on our culinary adventure into local restaurants brings us to a very popular Tavern in Concord. Located in Afton Village right off I-85 in Concord Afton Tavern is the go to hangout for many in Concord. Afton Tavern is not only a good hangout bar on the weekends but a great restaurant.
In the Summer Afton Tavern serves not only as a restaurant but a venue for live music on their patio. If you like to dine outside when the weather is nice then you will definitely want to check this place out. Even in the cooler months they have a dual sided fireplace to enjoy the cool fall nights while enjoying the company of friends, food, and favorite drink.
There are so many different menu items that I enjoy here I could not possibly list them all. One I enjoy the most are their chicken nachos, made with grilled chicken, house made queso, served with sour cream, pico de gallo, and jalapenos on the side. You can also get their homemade chili with your nachos if you choose in addition to the grilled chicken but my preference is just to have the chicken.
Afton Tavern also boasts many different food and drink specials during the week. From kids eat free on Monday and Teacher Tuesdays where all school employees get 25% off their bill with ID. I think the most popular promotion is definitely the half price appetizers every night from 9 pm until close. So if you are out late especially on a weekend then stop by for half price apps and take advantage of their weekend drink specials while you are there too and you are guaranteed to have a great night.
