Taste of Charlotte

Summer is in the air and local food festivals are gearing up!  One of my personal favorites is the annual Taste of Charlotte festival.  Taking place on Tryon Street in uptown Charlotte you could not ask for a better environment to sample fare from local restaurants all in one place.  Admission to the festival is free but you will have to purchase coins to sample food.  Spanning 5 city blocks the festival not only lets you experience the best in local food but also allows you to experience local bands on two stages with many other activities perfect for the whole family.

For the more health conscious they have not forgotten about you!  On Saturday the festival will kick-off at 9 am with the 2nd Annual Corona Light Race to the Taste 5K.  There is also the Cupcake Run/Walk for those who want to get their exercise but also have something sweet to go along with it. Participants of the Cupcake Run/Walk will be able to sample multiple cupcakes from several local bakeries throughout the course.  Not a bad way to start off a Saturday morning!

This is by far my favorite event to attend during the Summer.  While there are chain restaurants there for you to sample many are local and allow you to experience new cuisine if you might be unsure about a certain restaurant.  Not to mention they have a Tavern at the festival so you can enjoy your favorite beer or wine while sampling some fantastic food.  Load up the family and make your way to Uptown Charlotte this weekend and truly experience all that local food has to offer!
